PLEASE NOTE: This is an early access version of the assets. Included is a project file with all materials, textures, and material functions you'll need to get up and running; while everything is totally functional, some blueprints and materials are still very messy and undocumented.
A set of materials, material functions, and Blueprints for achieving a retro shading effect in Unreal Engine 5!
Includes the following features:
- Gouraud (vertex interpolated) lighting, as seen in most PS1/N64/PS2/GCN games. Uses an entirely Blueprint-based lighting system, with support for up to 48 (dynamic) lights at a time (this limitation will likely never go away, but the maximum amount will be increased later on!).
- Blinn-Phong specularity, for specular highlights
- Cubemap reflections for glossiness and metalness
- Dozens of parameters to control tint, hue, saturation, tiling, world alignment, opacity, glossiness, specular highlights, metalness, emission, texture masks, and more.
- BONUS: ‘90s pre-rendered CGI material to emulate that old-school promotional material look!
PLANNED FEATURES:
(These may or may not get added!)
- PlayStation 1-style material, with vertex snapping and affine texture mapping.
